Melanie and Aaron’s wedding was at the lovely Michabelle Inn in Hammond. This is a hidden gem of a place, with a traditional Southern style that makes it well suited for weddings in a picturesque setting.

Every bride looks forward to her wedding day with some trepidation that it may rain. Sure, there is the old saying that “rain on your wedding day is good luck.” Of course, that was probably started as a way to make the bride (and everyone else, but mostly the bride) feel better when the heavens decide to bring clouds instead of sunshine. Such was the case for Rachel & Wayne, their wedding day was not a sunny one, but spirits were still high. Lucky for them, Vintage Court is a lovely place to have an indoor ceremony. Of course, the original plan was to have the ceremony outside by the big oak tree, which is very popular for ceremonies there. However, as an alternative, the inside of the main room is perfect for the wedding, it was formally a convent after all. Everyone had a great time, and we did manage to get a few photos on the back porch that show the lovely grounds outside.

Ceremony & Reception: Fleur de Lis Event Centern, Mandeville, LA
We did Casey’s bridal portraits at Fairview State Park in Mandeville. I loved her fascinator netting head piece. Lisa Welch took some of the pre-ceremony photos, including the details shots of the wedding dress, shoes, and cake shots. The wedding was a lot of fun, with everyone having a great time on the dance floor. The Fleur de Lis is a terrific location to have a party atmosphere for a reception, and they took full advantage, as you can see in the photos.

Nikki and Charles had their wedding in the wonderful Riverview Room, with the Mississippi river behind them for a scenic backdrop. After the ceremony, we got some lovely photos on the balcony with the city behind and a brilliant sunset overhead.

Ceremony & Reception: Cedar Grove Tchoupitoulas Plantation, Westwego, LA
I skipped over posting Aubrey & Tim’s wedding for some reason, which I don’t understand because they were one of our favorite couples of the year. Maybe one of the reasons we liked them so much is because the Aubrey has a Westie dog, which is our family breed as well. They had a wonderful wedding at Cedar Grove, with their ceremony in the new chapel in the back, which was recently completely remodeled. Just before the wedding, Aubrey had completed her college degree to become a teacher, and just weeks after the wedding she got a teaching position. We love to hear such success stories for our brides and grooms!

Melissa and Kyle made a very handsome couple with the groom in his Air Force uniform, and the Castle made the perfect backdrop for their wedding photos. They had a great time at the reception with their family and friends. Another tremendous wedding, which is typical at the Castle.

The weather was a little unpredictable for Katie & Mark’s wedding at the Yacht Club in Mandeville, but it turned out well. Mark changed into his Navy uniform for some fun photo after the ceremony. And the sparklers at the end of the evening capped off a superb wedding night. We had taken the engagement portraits a few weeks before by the lake, and the bridal portraits just the week before.

Reception – Southern Oaks Plantation, New Orleans, LA
Kimberly and Herbie had a lovely wedding at the St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Slidell, followed by the always fabulous Southern Oaks Plantation for their reception. We first went over to get photos of Kimberly getting ready, then met Herbie and the guys at the church for some pre-wedding portraits. At Southern Oaks, everyone had a great time, with a fun 2nd Line dance and a perfect exit to end the afternoon with.

We took all the portraits for Kristen & Jeremy’s wedding before the ceremony. This made for a relaxed time after the ceremony to greet their guests and walk across the street to Ralph’s on the Park. This allowed for some splendid candid photo opportunities. Some of the best wedding photos are the ones where people are just enjoying the time with family and friends.
